About, briefly.

Who is behind this, why it costs nothing, and where to write.

Who runs it

StatusPost is a project of V2C Inc, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in Delaware.

V2C exists to give volunteers real technology work to do for nonprofits and to leave those nonprofits better equipped than it found them. Its EIN is 33-3915449, it holds Candid's 2026 Gold Seal of Transparency, and you can look it up in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search before you trust it with anything. The organization's own site is v2c.org.

Why it is free

Small nonprofits already pay for too many things at five dollars a month, and the one that tells you your donation page has been down since Tuesday should not be one of them. StatusPost has no price, no trial and no plan. If it earns its keep, you are welcome to make a donation to V2C; that is a gift, it buys nothing extra, and it is never required. We will mention it in one line on the front page and in one line of an occasional email, and never in an alert.

Today it is paid for out of V2C's own funds, which come from its volunteers and donors. That is why the terms set limits on use and let V2C change or stop the service with notice: a free thing has to be able to stay free.

Where it came from

It started in August 2026 as the monitor V2C built for its own projects, when the people running them kept finding out about outages from a supporter's email. The first version was called SteadyWatch; it was renamed StatusPost within a fortnight because nobody could hear the old name right on the phone. The old address forwards, so no link ever shared has broken. Everything since has been built in the open: what works today is on the front page, what does not yet is said plainly, and what went wrong on the way is written in the reading log.

How to reach a person

contact@statuspost.org. A person reads it. For anything about your data, the privacy page says what you can ask for; for security problems, the trust page says where to write.
